PRESS RELEASE: Organization of Free Eye Treatment Camp from 4 to 5 July 2026 in Kampong Cham Province, Kingdom of Cambodia

The Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok, which is concurrently accredited to the Kingdom of Cambodia, organized a Free Eye Treatment Camp on 4–5 July 2026 at the Provincial Hospital in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia, in collaboration with Lumbini Eye Institute and Research Center (Rana-Ambika Eye Hospital, Lumbini) and Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangha.

The Eye Treatment Camp was jointly inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Dhan Bahadur Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Mr. Un Chanda, Governor of Kampong Cham Province. The Eye Camp aims to provide free eye screening, treatment, and consultation services to the people of Kampong Cham Province while contributing to enhanced cooperation between Nepal and Cambodia in the field of health care. Around 1,500 Cambodian nationals are expected to benefit from the Eye Camp.

Prior to the inauguration ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Oli paid a courtesy call on H.E. Governor Un Chanda at the Governor's Office. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing collaboration in public health, medical education, healthcare services, capacity building, and the exchange of knowledge and best practices between Nepal and Cambodia. They emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional partnerships that would contribute to improving healthcare systems and promoting the well-being of the people of both countries.

The Governor of Kampong Cham Province highlighted the province's commitment to expanding international cooperation in healthcare and welcomed closer engagement with Nepal in areas of mutual interest. He expressed confidence that cooperation between provincial institutions and Nepali counterparts would create new opportunities for professional exchanges and community-based health initiatives.

His Excellency Ambassador Oli expressed His sincere appreciation to H.E. Governor Un Chanda for his invaluable support and leadership in facilitating the successful organization of the camp. Ambassador Oli also acknowledged the excellent cooperation of the Provincial Hospital, Kampong Cham, in hosting and implementing the program.

As part of the continued partnership, both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation through capacity-building initiatives, including professional training and exposure opportunities for Cambodian doctors and medical personnel at Lumbini Eye Institute and Research Center in Nepal.

The Embassy extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Cambodia, the Kampong Cham Chamber of Commerce, Lumbini Eye Institute and Research Center, Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangha, the Provincial Hospital, Kampong Cham, and all doctors, medical professionals, volunteers, and supporting staff whose dedication and commitment made this initiative possible.
